A Message from Marion Clifton, President and CEO of B&E

Who would have thought that a lunch conversation would be the beginning of two thriving businesses and a life long friendship? That’s just what happened 22 years ago when Marion Clifton and Mary Lou Burton got together shortly after Mary Lou’s wedding to put together the first Wedding Resource Guide. The Event Resource Guide was soon to follow.

Formerly Bravo! Publications – Seattle, Banquet & Event Resource, Inc. (better known as B&E) was formed in 1996 to handle the Puget Sound market. And, as they say, the rest is history. It’s exciting to realize that millions of people have used our guides and websites, and that our Northwest Event Show is the largest meeting planners show in the state of Washington.

We’ve all learned to re-think how we do things and what we value. The wedding industry took some big hits in 2010 and has had to adjust and refocus. Everyone saw or knows someone who was impacted by restructuring and consolidation. Now expectations have moved away from flash and splash to focus on ROI and ROO. It’s all about communication and substance. Technology is more important than ever, but we also need to get back to face-to-face contact. With high expectations and already full plates, it’s more important than ever before for businesses like B&E to provide the information brides and planners are looking for in thorough and easy to access ways. For the past 22 years, it’s been our mission to include only the most reliable and reputable businesses and services. While that will always be our priority, now we’re working harder than ever to make all the information you need available to you whenever and wherever you are.

  • The Wedding Resource Guide - Puget Sound's most loved resource, the B&E Wedding Resource Guide offers brides with the tools and resources they need to plan their dream Northwest wedding.
  • The Event Resource Guide – If you’re a frequent user of the B&E Event Resource Guide, you know it’s a must have for your desk. Structured in easy-to-use alpha order by category and vendor, it’s your meeting planning encyclopedia for local and regional resources.
  • BanquetEvent.com – Our website puts everything that’s in the Wedding & Event Resource Guide at your finger tips. For 2011, B&E is introducing flip, downloadable and smart phone versions of BanquetEvent.com. This puts us at the forefront of technology and accomplishes our goal of putting everything at your fingertips anytime, anywhere.
  • The Northwest Event Show – Your one day, one place opportunity to meet face-to-face with this area’s finest businesses and services. Where else can you consolidate months of appointments and handle your event planning for the year all in one day?

None of this happens by chance. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication. I would like to thank all of the B&E team as well as all of those businesses and services we’ve worked with for the past 22 years. As we all settle into the new normal, I look forward to what will come in these months and years ahead.
