Wedding Gowns For Winter Brides That We Love | B&E Lucky in Love Blog

Wondrous Winter Gowns

Wow, these wedding gowns for winter brides are stunning! Something we particulary love about a Winter (or long sleeved) gown, is the opportunity to see more detail! Stunning beads and buttons cascading off of a sleeve is something else, isn't it! Some of these dresses even look like the shimmering of a freshly laid sheet of snow! Simply magical.

Shopping Different Dress Silhouettes - A Guide to Wedding Dresses

"Shopping Different Dress Silhouettes - A Guide to Wedding Dresses" is a guest blog post from I Do Bridal Too. I Do Bridal Too is Seattle’s newest off the rack Bridal Outlet Salon.  They feature beautiful, one of a kind gowns at fabulous prices.  Their salon is located in the heart of Wallingford in the original I Do Bridal location.  They carry hundreds of gowns in stock, ready for purchase the same day.  Open 3 days a week with limited appointments and walk-ins welcome.  Gowns are priced from $199-$999 with all gowns under $1,000

When it’s time to start trying on dresses, it’s ridiculously exciting, but you are overwhelmed by a sea of white, ideas from your Pinterest and the dress you’ve pictured yourself in since you were five. It can be difficult knowing where to start, and one thing I have found about guides online is that they can be a bit limiting.

I have noticed that a lot of them give advice based on what your body type is, but the thing is most women don’t necessarily fit perfectly into one body type. Some people can be athletic and still be curvy, be petite while also being tall, etc. I think you should go more off of what parts of your shape you would like to bring attention to, and just what dress FEELS right. Of course certain silhouettes will look better on you, but the only way to figure that out is to actually see them on. The moral of the story from a bridal consultant and a  bride to be is that looking at a guide isn’t going to tell you what the perfect shape for you is, so be open minded when selecting things to try on.

Another thing we should get out of the way now, is SIZING. Let me start by saying, bridal sizing is crazy. Your wedding dress size is going to be a couple of numbers up from what you expected. They are based off of a whole different sizing chart, and if you are someone that worries about the number, it’s best to just try and get out of that mindset before trying on. For example, I wear a size 4 normally, and my wedding dress is a size 8. People who normally wear a size 12 will probably be a 14-16. It totally varies, and with that being said, it’s also better to have a dress that is a little big, rather than a little small. This will save you money in alterations.

Below is a guide based off of just the dress itself, so you can have an idea what you are looking at when browsing through the racks, and then decide if you like that idea for your body. Don’t be limited! You know your body, and you know what makes you feel confident and that's what will look best on your wedding day!

A-line dresses are very popular. The bodice is fitted, and the dress flares out near your hips. These can be flowy, or closer to a ball gown just depending on the amount of crinoline underneath.

Similar to the A-line, but a bit more dramatic . Ball gowns are known for being a fun, dramatic, princess like style. Ball gowns have a fitted bodice, and billow out at the waist to provide a lot of volume on the skirt. *TIP- If you fall in love with a ball gown but don’t love the extra proof that is OKAY! You can always have your seamstress remove some of the crinoline and make the ball gown closer to the A-line shape.

Trumpet gowns are fitted through the bodice & hips and begin to flare out close to the thigh/above the knee. Trumpet dresses are curve hugging and do a great job of showing off your figure, I always tell my brides even if they don’t think they want something fitted, a trumpet more often than not will pleasantly surprise them. Hi Beyonce!

Mermaid’s & Trumpets are often confused, and sometimes can be interchangeable. They are very similar, and the main difference is that a mermaid skirt begins to flare out lower, where the trumpet flares out usually above the knee.

The sheath style hangs off of the body in a delicate way, and are normally not quite as structured as other gowns, giving them a more light, effortless feel. Many of the more “bohemian” styles we are seeing from designers right now are sheath gowns.

Tea Length dresses are so sweet & fun! These gowns are so versatile because it is really up to the bride how formal or informal you’d like to make them. Tea length dresses typically cut a few inches below the knee.

Drop Waist gowns are an elegant combination of the Trumpet & the A line. The bodice is fitted past your natural waist, below your hips and flares out from there.

Bridal Style: Long sleeve Wedding Gowns

Hello Lovelies!

The weather here in the Pacific Northwest has certainly decided it's Winter and these frost filled mornings are inspiring us in our wedding gown trend search. Inspired by the sun glinting off the grass and snow (finally!) in the mountains, we're dreaming of winter white wedding dresses that feature hints of glam sparkle with sequins, rhinestones, pearls and the extra coverage of long-sleeves. Boho, modern or classical-style, long sleeve Wedding Gowns are elegant and perfect for Fall and Winter weddings.

Here are some stunners the Lucky in Love Wedding Bloggers are enchanted by this week featuring gowns from Chaviano Couture, Pronovia's, IMC Ilona Markina Cohen and more.

The Avril Gown features floor, or beach, skimming lengths of ivory silk tulle and sheer surplice neckline and applique blooms stuns paired with BHLDN's ivory cathedral length Cascading Fleur Lace Veil.

Left photo: We love the idea of using the Celeste Topper, a sleeveless, loose-fitting topper with cascading back, crafted from stunning Chantilly lace, as an alternative to a traditional veil. Featured here over the Persephone Gown, that features a sweeping train, intricate beaded embroidery, illusion straps, a sequined bodice, and a layered tulle skirt with tonal lining. Right photo: The Gillian Tulle Dress is the the quintessential ballet-inspired dream dress, with its silk bodice and hi-low, recycled PET lining layered tulle skirt.

BHLDN Summer Collection

The creamy, dusty pink Coppelia Ballet Dress, features a beaded latticework georgette bodice and the over-the-knee tulle-skirted dress that works no only for the flirty bride but would make a lovely, unexpected option for bridesmaids.  {Bonus - they would defiantly wear this classic and refined dress again!} Gold-dipped brass, Swarovski crystals, Swarovski pearls earings, the Badi Chandlier, completes the look and would be the perfect compliment to the look and a treasured bridesmaid gift.

BHLDN Summer Collection

Left photo: The Adalynn Gown's bodice hugging, stitched ivory organza top flows into a mermaid skirt and train that compliments the curves of a woman's body in all the right places. Right photo: Color does not always mean, bridesmaid gown, and although featured as a bridesmaid gown, with 11 different color option, the Annabelle Dress  would also make a stunning bridal gown, with it's bias-cut, long skirt, convertible dress made from soft, light tulle, that can be styled 15+ ways.  A unique twist on having a different gown for the ceremony and reception.

BHLDN Summer Collection

The Cate Gown offers glamour, with a nod to Indian handwork with it's tonal sequins and silver-cut beaded bodice and tiered layers of rose-hued ombre tulle. Paired with BHLDN's made-to-order Gallica Ornament Headpiece made of Rhodium plated brass, raw brass, enamel, and Swarovski crystals, the total styling is nothing short of breathtaking.

Bridal Style: Milamira Bridal

Today's Bridal Style inspiration comes all the way from Saint Petersburg, Russia.  Inspired by the outstanding architecture, strong mixture of European traditions and unique Russian culture, magnificent history of ballet and art, the designers at Milamira Bridal create wedding dresses with the unique bride in mind. "She is free, feminine and ready to mix hard and soft in her personal style".

Each gown is handmade in their studio where the two women design from the pen & paper sketch to the final stitch, themselves.  Laces from Europe and the best quality materials are used with a fair mix of experimental fabrics that are common and not so common for bridal dresses including matte satin & silky satins, tulle, pearl buttons, corded lace, chantilly lace, jacquard, and velvet ribbon.

We think their gowns are absolutely dreamy and are sharing a few of our favorite gowns from their most recent collection. We are especially taken with the pale pink and sky blue hues that dot the collection. Visit Milamira Bridal on Etsy HERE, to see their full collection of wedding gowns.
