Multicultural Seattle Wedding

Fuchsia and Honeysuckle Pink, Hyacinth Violet, Peridot Green, Persimmon Orange and Lemon Zest Yellow tropical flowers and elements of vintage decor harmonised with the modern wood and concrete interior design of Seattle's Within Sodo at this wedding. With nods to the couples multicultural background, decor and customs from Africa to Greece were embraced during this sunny summer wedding from New Creations Wedding Design & Coordination.  Lavish upon the images captured by Affinity Photography.

From the Wedding Planner, Rebecca Grant, New Creations Wedding Design & Coordination: Haroula and Dave’s multicultural wedding was a feast for the eyes!  On a perfect summer day in Seattle, they exchanged vows under a beautiful custom Edison bulb chandelier from Vintage Ambiance.  The bright, tropical colored flowers played perfectly against the dark, modern wood and concrete palette of Within Sodo.  Their long, family-style tables were stunningly set with chargers, napkins, favors and even vintage glass doorknob table number holders.  Nods to the bride growing up in Africa were abundant through the use of bright colors and tropical flowers.  Even the cake had hand-made sugar flower bougainvillea speaking to the abundance of the flower in Africa.  Haroula's Greek heritage was brought in during the dancing, and although we couldn't break the plates, napkins were thrown about instead.

Thousands of accounts full of unique, and creative wedding tips, info graphics, and editorial photographs, showcasing wedding day possibilities, are available to inspire. And inspired we are! In honor of #FollowFriday and our fondness for this virtual pin board, we're starting a new series to help connect you with whom is Pinspiring us this month. A note of prudence, dear readers, remember despite the fabulousness of Pinterest, it should not be seen as a means for replacing hiring a professional for your most special day.  Aunt Sue can read every Wedding Planners Guide that Pinterest has to offer, but it can not replace putting your trust into the experienced and expert hands of a professional. Plus, you want Auntie to be able to celebrate in your special day and not have to worry about whether or not your on schedule for the cake cutting and first dance.

While you're checking out our top 3 of the week, don't forget to follow our Lucky in Love by Banquet & Event Pinterest boards too.  See you at the virtual cork board and happy pinning!

Beautiful Beach Wedding Inspiration

We've been beating the heat this summer by enjoying the beautiful beaches of the Pacific Northwest. It's gotten us really dreaming of all those lovely beach brides out there. Having a backdrop of the sand and the ocean, accompanied by a stunning sunset that sinks into the deep blue ocean, is so picturesque that you will remember it for a lifetime! Marvel in these photos as you plan your beach wedding!

Our coral, sage, blush and grey palette is inspired by the Pacific Northwest sunsets themselves.  Looking towards the quickly approaching night sky, we can't help but be inspired by the dark clouds that dot the sky, set against the backdrop of evergreen trees, that turn dusty green in the fading light, while marveling at the coral sun rays themselves, that in turn, highlights the remaining white clouds left in the sky to a lovely blush.

4 fantastic tips for your tented wedding

If there's one thing you can count on in the Pacific Northwest, it's the you can't count on the weather.  Not only can rain vary from misting to downpour in the matter of minutes, as of late, you have the heat to think about too. The solution, besides an inside, AC venue? Tenting!  Not only does this take the worry off your outdoor wedding dreams being soaked, it provides fantastic decor opportunities.

Here are 4 fantastic tips for creating the perfect tented wedding:

  1. Size Matters
What is happening under the big top? Are you hosting a sit down dinner for 200? Will the dance floor be under the stars or surrounded by tables? Figuring out your guest count and how you want the space to function will dictate how large of a tent you will need.  On average, for a stand-up cocktail hour tented space you need around 6 feet per person.  For a dinner reception, with tables seating 6-8 people, you would need 81 square feet per table.  Add in a dance floor, and you'll need about 4 feet per person (keeping in mind that typically, only half of your guests will be shaking their groove thing at one time). Then add on average around 100 square feet per table for the cake and gift/guest book tables. DJ's typically need a couple hundred square feet for their set-ups and a 3 piece band around 100 square feet.
  2. Location! Location! Location!
As with real estate, location, is also an important factor to consider when looking where you set up your wedding tent.  Are there fragrant fields of lavender or snow-capped mountains to be viewed? A clear tent allows for the beautiful views to be seen from all angles. Or choose white tents with windows to allow all the beauty of your venue to be seen without having to worry about wind and pesky bugs. Will the tent be on grass or gravel? Has it been raining for weeks?  Think about adding a sub flooring such as parquet floors, so that heels save the grass from an unplanned aeration.  *Planner tip: Taylor'd Events Group reminds us to keep in mind the seasonal heat index of your wedding. Clear tents are stunning for offering 360 degree views but can magnify the heats reflection.  Think about using clear tenting during the cooler months and for evening weddings when the full starry sky can be savored.
  3. Power Up!
Make sure you have an adequate supply of power.  Nothing is more elegant than chandeliers, twinkle lights, or globe lights lighting up the dance floor and tenting is the perfect vehicle to display them.  An amber or warm-color light will create a soft glow against the white of a tents walls.  For a more festive look, use hue saturated lights of pink, blue or green and change the whole mood into disco dance party time. Also keep in mind having power for fans, to further keep guests cool, or heaters, for when the evening starts to cool down are lovely ways to show your guests their comfort is important to you.
  4. Set the Mood
Create an elegant wedding venue complete with fabric draping, side walls, doors, crystal chandeliers, and a black and white checkered dance floor.  Or keep it simple and leave the tent to protect your guests from the elements and let nature be your main decor.  Also, don't think you have to limit yourself to just one large main tent.  Create "mood rooms" by attaching smaller tents together to create such areas the Cigar Lounge (featuring hand-rolled cigars from San Juan Cigars) or a quite vintage lounge area (outfitting in Vintage Ambiances authentic period pieces from the late 1800's through the mid century) away from the DJ's bass and YMCAing enthusiasts. Tenting allows for endless decor possibilities from the grand to the minimalist.
