The Flavors of Fall: November Cocktails | B&E Lucky in Love Blog

Fall Flavor Cocktails

All the Flavors of Fall are represented in this months November Cocktails. From apples, to cranberries and pumpkins, we're giving thanks for all things Autumn flavored. In this month of giving thanks, we are thankful for our followers and clients, and raise a glass to you all and say Thank You!

In the season of thanksgiving, don't forget the etiquette for writing your wedding thank you notes. It's a (poor) myth that you have up to a year to send them out. A good rule of thumb is within 3 months of returning from your honeymoon. Follow our thank you advice and template and pour yourself a glass, or two, of one of these yummy fall inspired cocktails, and you'll be set to enjoy your newly-wedded bliss!

Cheers!

  1. Cider Rum Punch via Brit+Co: A twist on the traditional hot rum punch, this rum, lemon juice, apple cider and fresh apple slices cocktail warms the consumer from the inside. The addition of thyme gives it an herbaceous kick that pairs perfectly with turkey.
  2. Boozy Pumpkin Hot Chocolate via Minimalist Baker: This isn't the hot chocolate of your childhood. This cocoa is elevated with the use of white chocolate, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice and Bourbon.
  3. Cranberry Thyme Gin and Tonic via A Cozy Kitchen: You can't have turkey without cranberries, and we like ours in an old fashioned glass over ice! This thanksgiving take on the tradition gin and tonic, features fresh cranberries, orange juice, vanilla extract, thyme and of course, gin and tonic.
  4. Pumpkin Beermosas via Growing Up Gabel: It's pumpkin season and you can find it everywhere from your coffee to your beers. We're fans of Redhook Brewery's Out of Your Gourd Pumpkin Porter on it's own but we're here to help you find the perfect cocktail hour, or signature drink (it's a tough job but somebody has to do it!) so when we found this pumpkin beer & pumpkin juice recipe we had to give it a try.

Will you be trying the Pumpkin Beermosa or Boozy Pumpkin Hot Chocolate this season? We think these drinks embody the flavors of Fall and pair perfectly for all celebrations surrounding your wedding from the bridal shower to the morning after present opening brunch.

  1. Mr. Hyde Potion via HGTV: Lavender syrup, blackberry liqueur, tarragon simple syrup, vodka & lemon juice blend together for a herbaceous sip with a sweet finish and thrilling purple hue.
  2. The Black Heart via Minted: Guaranteed to warm even the blackest heart, this mix of black vodka, fig vodka and Creme de Cassis is darkly decadent. Don't forget the halved fresh fig placed stem-side down on the martini glass for the perfect heart finishing creepy (I mean, doesn't the inside of a fig look like a human heart cavity of what?!) yet elegant touch!
  3. La Llorona Cocktail via Taste Spotting: Pisco Brandy, lime & lemon juice, and a dash of Angostura bitters makes this drink lovely anytime of year, but the addition of dry ice* gives it the perfect spooky feel. *Please drink responsibly and know that dry ice should never be consumed in it's solid form.
  4. Black Widow via Ever Mine: Devilishly refreshing this mix of blackberry juice, simple syrup and vodka creates a deep red to purple hue that's hauntingly elegant in any style glass.

  1. Peach Bourbon Thyme Smash via A Healthy Life For Me: The start of summer means peaches are coming into their peak season. This summertime refresher packs quite the punch with its fresh peach juice, bourbon, thyme and a spicy jalapeno simple syrup.
  2. The Firecracker via Creative Culinary: We're enjoying exploring flavored voldka's, it's a tough job but someone has to do it! So after a long day of searching for the perfect wedding cocktails we indulge in a little DIY spa-time and throw a couple cucumbers on our eyes... perfect for those left over cucumber slices from this watermelon, lime and cucumber cocktail.
  3. Frose´ via W&P Design: "Summer Water" aka Rose' is the highlight of this grown-up slushy cocktail featuring dry rose', lemon juice and Vergano Americano Chinato.
  4. Jalepeno Grapefruit Margarita via Eat Well 101: What gives a magargita more kick? Adding freshly sliced jalapeno! They're the perfect compliment to the sweetly sour grapefruit and tequila combination.

January Cocktails

Hope you all had a lovely time celebrating your new year! Let's keep the party going with these lovely and delicious inspired drinks, shall we!? These January cocktails are inspired by our dreams of laying out on sunny beaches soaking up rays, instead of layering over layers to stay warm and dry during our cold, wet, (and somewhat snowy) days.

January Cocktails

{ Images: 1. The Design Confidential; 2. Dishing up the Dirt; 3. Punchbowl; 4. Domesticate Me}

  1. Coconut Mint Margarita via The Design Confidential: You put the lime in the coconut... and when it's coconut sorbet it's even easier to drink it all up! Featuring tequila, lime juice, shredded coconut, mint and the afore mentioned coconut sorbet, this fabulous cocktail is the perfect get-away while never leaving your home.
  2. Pear + Ginger-Sage Champagne via Dishing up the Dirt: Still have some champagne hanging around from New Years? This Pear and Ginger Sage champagne cocktail is the perfect way to use it up. The simple syrup created from pears, ginger, honey and sage is one you may just keep on hand throughout the year as the flavor profile works throughout the year.
  3. The Blizzard via Punchbowl: Okay, we had to include one drink that is perfect for our NW January's and The Blizzard was the perfect fit. Coffee, whiskey, hazelnut liqueur, Irish cream liqueur and whipped cream will actually keep you warm as you plan your sunny honeymoon.
  4. Grapefruit Rosemary Mule via Domesticate Me: Moscow Mule's we're all the rage last year and we don't think this tasting cocktail is going anywhere soon which is perfect with us! We like this take on the mule with it's sweetly sour version featuring fresh squeezed grapefruit, vodka, lime juice, ginger beer and rosemary.

September Cocktails

Capture the taste of Autumn with these Fall inspired cocktails! Filled with seasonal fruits such as apples, figs and plums, and three of our favorite spirits - bourbon, beer and wine, these September cocktails will be sure to inspire you during the wedding planning process and after.

September Cocktails

{Images: 1. Cooking & Beer; 2. Valley & Co. Lifestyle; 3. Kitchen Serendipity; 4. The Life Styled}

  1. Apple & Pumpkin Beer Cocktail from Cooking & Beer - It's Fall and that means some pumpkin beer season! This beer cocktail is described as if a "pumpkin pie and apple pie got together and had a beautiful baby. A baby made up of bourbon, pumpkin ale, apple cider and lemon juice." We suggest pairing it with the amazing Redhook Brewery's Out of Your Gourd Pumpkin Porter.
  2. Fig Bubbly from Valley & Co. Lifestyle - Less is sometimes more, and this is evident in Valley & Co.'s Fig Bubbly featuring only two sweet ingredients: champagne and figs.  Not only is the drink elegant, its simplicity at it's finest.
  3. Makers Mark Pear & Ginger Cocktail from Kitchen Serendipity - Fresh herbs in drinks is a trend we hope never goes away.  This bourbon, pear nectar, honey and ginger ale cocktail gets a piney kick with the addition of fresh rosemary. Be sure to swirl this fresh stick stick herb around a few times to really infuse some of it's earthiness into your cocktail.
  4. Autumn Bourbon Sangria from The Life Styled - One thing we love about Sangrias is their ability to take on the flavor of any season. This Autumn Bourbon Sangria highlights Fall fruits including apples, oranges, plums and pears in a Malbec wine. We suggest using Novelty Hill Winery Stillwater Creek Vineyard Malbec or Januik Winery Weinbau Vineyard Malbec.

Summer is nearing an end, so let's try some late summer cocktails to really enjoy these last few weeks! But don't worry we will still find yummy Fall and Winter cocktails to keep you cozy this winter.

August Cocktails

  1. Blackberry Basil Whiskey Smash from MyDomanine - Although blackberries are at their peak in June and July, this year, we're still enjoying their tart sweetness into August. Plus, we love the trend of mixing herbs with fruit, as this drink does with basil leaves, lemons, blackberries, simple syrup and bourbon.
  2. Tuscan Pear Cocktail from Cocktails Drinks Recipes - Pears are just coming into their peak season at the end of summer making this vodka, Limoncello, ginger liqueur, blood orange juice and simple syrup drink not only a beautiful one but tasty too.
  3. Strawberry Pisco Sour from Liquor.com - This classic is given a twist by adding some delicious strawberries. By adding the berries it also gives the drink a lovely pink hue which looks lovely when served in special crystal/clear cups.
  4. Tullulah Cocktail from Liquor.com - Baseball has a couple months left in it's season, and this peanut garnished cocktail is the perfect way to celebrate the ole' ball game! Whiskey, peanut orgeat and coca-cola, is certain to be a home run!

Wedding Bar Guide: Refreshing Summer Cocktails to Try

Summer is almost here and we've got summer wedding bar cocktails on our minds.  The bar area has become more than just a pit stop to grab your drink and move on at the wedding reception.  It has become a major element of your events decor.  Just check out how many "Wedding Bar" Pinterest boards there are these days. {FYI Vintage Ambiance's "Bars and Buffets" is one of our favorites!}

Not only are Signature Drinks and Wedding Bars trending, they are functional for your wedding in many ways too.  Signature cocktails are a fun way to show your personality.  Did you meet on a blind date at The Woodinville Whiskey Company? A Whiskey Sour may be the perfect tribute!  Hosting a cocktail hour is the perfect to entertain your guests while your ceremony area is being flipped to become your reception area. Wedding bars can be an expansion on your wedding theme too.  Think about serving Mint Juleps for your 1920's fete.  They also allow you to showcase your wedding colors in a unique fashion.  Blue Curacao is a popular one for it's flavor and lovely blue hue.  Or try adding an orange slice to everyone's beer glass that not only ties back to your orange bridesmaid gowns but to the orange blossoms in the bridal bouquet.

Summer is the perfect time to add the seasons sweetest flavors into your cocktails, such as raspberries, mint or peaches.  So we've rounded up four yummy refreshing summer cocktails that not only sound delicious, but they look refreshing and beautiful too.
